Don’t become an authentic writer

In fact, don’t even become a writer.

Already too late?

You’re screwed. There’s no way back.

Just kidding.

So, back to that bold statement: why not be authentic? Why not write authentically?

Because nobody cares. So why would you?

Writing is happening. That thing we call authenticity, it’s already there too.

Trying to interfere with that will only give you the feeling of becoming more authentic. Choosing your style. Listening to your inner voice. Getting closer to your so-called truth.

Again, nobody cares. So why should you?

Spending time on becoming more authentic in your writing is, more often than not, a waste of time. Because you’d only be doing it for yourself. And that makes the writing about you.

Let it go. Let writing write.

Let others write through you, as you.

And then, almost by accident, you’ll be like them, but in your own beautiful way.
