Stop Just Doing Stuff
Business tasks without the weight of doing.
I’m very familiar with thinking business stuff needs to be done.
When I would do X, Y and Z, I can expect something. Could very well be the case. However, the doing is killing the aliveness.
Is it possible to step aside entirely? To step aside as the marketer of your business, and view it as somebody else’s venture?
If the answer would be yes, what would it require from us? Or does this question try to bring us back into doing mode again?
We do it all the time, thinking stuff has to be done by us.
When you’re running a business, the list doesn’t seem to have an end to it. You have things that need to be done now. Things that can wait a little longer. Stuff you never seem to find time for. Constantly balancing your to-do’s with the available time.
When we start to introduce ways to make it feel less like tasks, we simply add another task. We call our to-do list a list of reminders instead. We reserve more space for spontaneous acts to occur during our day. We work with our priorities more flexibly.
Every time we seem to end up in task-thinking again.
We cannot help it. And even though stuff gets done, it can be exhausting.
So, again, how can we completely step aside?
I’d say, by seeing we don’t need to.
It’s simply stepping aside, which is already taking place before we could make the decision.
Let stepping aside be a little reminder to that.
With it, the tasks don’t disappear. The doing doesn’t stop. We’re no longer carrying it all like it depends on us holding it together.
