The Binge Reading Revolution
From heavy reads to satisfying episodes.
We love binge-watching our favorite series. But why should books be any different? Just because the traditional way was about substance, lengthy books, something that feels heavy when you hold it?
Would you rather put together a single movie or create an ongoing series?
Episodes aren't as lengthy as movies. You've got mini episodes of 15 minutes each, some that don't even seem connected to the others. Just the overall message stays the same, like Black Mirror or Love, Death and Robots. You can watch them separately, no order required.
Either way, you can binge-watch it. With one book, the reader doesn’t get the satisfaction of completing something every time. And wishing to start the next.
That's why the mini book series works so well. You can go through them rapidly or take all the time you need. When readers puts it aside, they haven't forgotten where they were. Your books should be so short that they don't need bookmarks to remember where you left off.
The completion feels enjoyable. Finishing something in one sitting, then reaching for the next. The momentum carries you forward instead of making you work to maintain interest over weeks.
Each book becomes an episode. Focused, complete, yet part of something bigger. Readers can sample one and decide if they want the full season. They can start anywhere and find their way through your ideas.
I'm working on my second season now. The first season is called Remember to Forget, nondual-inspired books for living freely. It contains three episodes. The second season explores Stepping Aside. The first episode, The Art of Unwriting, is already published. The others are coming soon.
I noticed this is a way of living. Once you put out your first book, you find ways to naturally incorporate book writing into what you already do. You bundle content you already share. You write about things you were reflecting on anyway. You capture conversations you've already had with people.
You bring it together into episodes, starting your own series while doing what you were already doing.
