The Gathering Space Around Your Book
On recurring spaces for shared exploration.
I often refer to a book as a shared conversation. That’s why I encourage working on it in public, so others have a stake in it through their comments, offering new ideas, different perspectives.
What works even better is a recurring group. A place for shared exploration.
I’m doing this for both my books. The Art of Unwriting has weekly gatherings called The Unwriting Café. The Art of Unmarketing, not published yet, has The Unmarketing Game Hall. Also weekly. Both on a Tuesday, both free. If you like to be there, send me a dm with your email and I’ll send you an invite.
The sessions provide me with ideas I can work on. Angles I couldn’t yet see by myself become visible.
Aside from being valuable for ideation, it contributes to the book as business. We like to get familiar with something before deciding to commit, whether in money for your coaching program or time for reading your book. Their familiarity with your offering deepens with each gathering.
It’s the foundation of community around your book series. A low threshold for people to see, come by, taste, engage. You connect your readers to others, creating new faces and interesting connections.
I notice where in the past I found value in quantity, it shifts more to quality. Even a few faces showing up means a lot. Such value for everyone. It’s marvelous to witness how new connections take place through one of the spaces you offer.
